They're raging about... accepting a proposal that tenancies should last at least six months... ...making sure the court system doesn't explode, which it immediately would if the bill went ahead as planned... ... exclude students from being able to squat in properties forever... ... and revisit the ludicrous £1000+ licences being charged by some areas to do nothing more than pad out their paychecks. Where exactly is the issue here? I'm sure actual industry experts would go way further to change this bill than the government have done. Clueless twitter quote factories are doing nothing to actually fix the supply shortage.

None of this noise matters. Labour are going to use their majority to press ahead with further damaging the PRS, and supply will plummet, causing further increases to rents. I hope Shelter are happy with the effect they continue to have on the sector...

Maybe this is controversial... but if someone can afford to pay those kinds of rents, they ought to be taxed until they bleed. Stamp duty is moronic and counterproductive, but not because of this.
